93 common contaminants including heavy metals, common inorganics, volatile organics (VOCs), all of which a homeowner might be concerned with, plus coliform bacteria and 20 common pesticides. If you have municipal water, you can also call your water authority and request a copy of the latest monitoring test results.
The LaMotte Total Coliform Kit is easy to use and will provide a positive or negative for coliform bacteria, which are associated with human waste. Results are read after 36 hours at room temperature. If a color change to yellow occurs with a bubbly cloudy solution, coliform bacteria are present. If the solution remains red, coliform bacteria are not present.
Coliform testing of well water should be done every six months-one year. Coliform testing of municipal water generally is not necessary, but there are numerous annual episodes of E. coli in municipal water across the U.S.
Includes iron, total dissolved solids, hardness, pH, and nitrates.
Bottles are supplied for a morning draw and a subsequent draw. Two different draws will help determine the source of the lead, i.e., either from the pipes or the water supply.
This Reverse Osmosis Proficiency Evaluation is available to anyone with a RO unit, whether or not the unit was bought from Enviro Health. This series of 5 basic tests (hardness, pH, TDS, iron, nitrates) is conducted on tap water and filtered water samples to determine the overall efficiency of the membrane of this unit. No membrane lasts forever, so its condition should be checked at least once a year.
A greenish color in your water or sink is an indication of copper. Elevated levels of copper may result from current flowing on your water pipes. Electrolysis leaches metals from metal pipes.
If you have municipal water, you can also call your local water authority for a copy of their latest monitoring test results.
A "rotten egg smell" is due to sulphur. If you suspect elevated levels of sulphur in your water supply, test for sulphur levels. Sulphur causes pipe corrosion.
