Environmental inspections are state-of-the-art, pioneering
assessments at Enviro Health Environmental Home Inspections, Inc.
Our home environmental inspection is a professional in-depth screening of indoor air and water quality, mold, and electromagnetic field issues. Mold, EMF, or special
concerns assessments can also be done alone.
Our goal is to help you improve the air you breathe and the water you drink, and to reduce various types of electromagnetic fields around you.
Types of Inspections:
Indoor Air Quality Screening
The EnviroHealth screening includes molds and other biological contaminants, issues from asbestos and lead, dust and other particulates, relative humidity, measurements for moisture content of building materials, review of formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), combustion gases and particulates, vacuum cleaner efficiency, ventilation and oxygen issues, ductwork, heating and air conditioning, etc.
Includes:
Mold risk assessment including impact air sampling and mold detection and tracking with on-site microscope
Microbial and particulate sampling at ductwork
Microscopic evaluation of air particulates - mold and pollen counts
Vacuum cleaner health evaluation
Pesticide screening
Evaluation of building materials for moisture content
The EnviroHealth evaluation is unique, because we use an on-site microscope for sticky tape diagnostic work and also do our own pre-screening of air sample culture plates for the most common allergenic molds. Only select samples may be sent for laboratory confirmation. With this approach, many more samples can be taken without incurring additional laboratory fees. The client gets "more bang for the buck." Equipment includes a microscope, moisture meter, Allergenco Air Sampler, Anderson Impact Air Sampler, and relative humidity meter.
Includes:
Mold risk assessment including impact air sampling and mold detection and tracking with on-site microscope
Microbial and particulate sampling at ductwork
Microscopic evaluation of air particulates - mold and pollen counts
Vacuum cleaner health evaluation
Evaluation of building materials for moisture content
Assessment of dampness in basement
Recommendations for remediation and control
Drinking Water Screening
Tap and filtered water are checked for total dissolved solids, as well as for pH and chlorine. The effectiveness of the water treatment system is studied. Shower water issues are addressed.
Includes:
Measurement of total dissolved solids in tap and filtered water
Chlorine content
Check for lead solder
Filtration recommendations
Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Evaluation
Known biologically active EMF variables are evaluated, and recommendations are made for reduction. These variables include AC and DC magnetic and electric fields, RF/MW (radio frequency/microwave radiation), ionizing radiation, pulsed signals, grounding and wiring issues, etc. Special attention is shown to sleeping areas. Associated topics include microwave ovens, cellular phones, lighting concerns, and computers.
Includes:
Magnetic field survey
Microwave oven check
Measurement of high frequency radiation
Evaluation of telephones and computer work area
Measurement of electric fields at sleeping areas
Evaluation of children's play areas
Evaluation of magnetization of bed springs
Measurement of reading light and fluorescent lighting
Power lines and grounding issues
Evaluation of areas of elevated radiation
Measurement of selected electric appliances
Pre-purchase or Pre-rental Inspections
"I didn't know this service was available. Everyone should have this done when buying a house," said one of our clients. Another man, learning of the service, commented, "I wouldn't buy a house without it. This is just common sense." (My comment: Would there were trained inspectors in all areas!)
The main investigations at a pre-purchase inspection are EMFs (especially radiation from power lines, because these rarely can be changed after you are in a house), screening for stray voltage in the yard and on the electrical grounding system, risk assessment for mold (including on-site screening with a microscope), check for gas leaks, check for lead solder in the water pipes, and possibly screening for lead.
Includes:
Magnetic field survey, power lines, perimeter of house and property, inside house
Measurement of current on water service supply pipe and recommendations for correction if needed
On-site surface sampling for mold
Air sampling for mold
Check for natural gas leaks and carbon monoxide
(optional) Screening for lead paint and lead solder

These evaluations are available in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia,
with referral in other areas. Periodic cross-country inspection tours
are planned, so please e-mail for notification of the next one.
Key Benefits
Reducing your toxic load will enable your body to direct resources to healing instead of to counteracting toxins.
If you are a parent, you will be taking advantage of the best that is known environmentally on behalf of your children and helping to safeguard their health.
Many people find a reduction in symptoms once the air and water are improved and electromagnetic fields are reduced.
The advanced European inspection protocol followed is state-of-the-art for environmental home inspections, including biologically significant aspects unavailable through most other environmental firms.
Besides diagnosing environmental issues that could be health concerns, practical recommendations are offered for remediation.
Clients receive a 50+ page easy-to-understand written report containing findings, recommendations, and resources. To help clients get organized, the report includes a summary section entitled, How Does Your House Rate?, with priority steps for action.
You will have peace of mind that you are making the best of what you have to deal with.
