Enough is Known to Warrant Precautionary Activities
Research on electromagnetic fields and cancer is sufficient to take precautionary measures.
If someone with cancer knew that eating a certain food would speed up the growth of tumors, you can bet that he or she wouldn't eat that food.
Yet many scientific studies have shown that electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can increase the size and number of tumors in laboratory animals. Doesn't it make sense to reduce EMFs in your environment?
Two studies showing increased growth in animal tumors were done by Dr. Craig Byus of the University of California in 1995, and Dr. Wolfgang
Löscher, School of Veterinary Medicine, Germany, in 1993.
In 1992, Dr. Sabine Johann of the Technical University of Munich, Germany, found that breast cancer cell activity increased in the presence of EMFs.
Further, more tumors resulted from carcinogenic chemicals in the presence of EMFs than from either the chemicals or the EMFs alone, according to a 1991 study by Dr. Chris Cain of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Loma Linda, California.
The implication from this study is that EMFs may tilt the scale towards cancer when carcinogenic chemicals are also present, such as with many pesticides and herbicides, or in food or water stored or heated in plastic wrap or containers. Heat can release carcinogenic estrogen-mimickers into the food, and the softer the plastic, the more chemical plasticizers may be released.
Another important finding in several research projects is that the levels of cancer-fighting melatonin decrease in the presence of EMFs. In the laboratory, melatonin kept breast cancer cells from multiplying until EMFs were introduced. Then the tissue started to grow again.
Scientists reporting this effect include Dr. Robert Liburdy, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, California, 1992, Dr. Carl Blackman of the Environmental Protection Agency, 1998, and Dr. Scott Davis of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Washington, 1997.
Because melatonin is a powerful control hormone in the body, self-medication is not recommended. Several countries have banned the sale of melatonin over-the-counter. Instead, reduce EMFs and make your bedroom as dark as possible at night to maximum natural production of melatonin by the pineal gland of the brain.
Enviro Health Environmental Home Inspections, Inc., is one of a handful of companies nationwide performing a full spectrum EMF evaluation. The known biologically active components of EMFs are measured, with recommendations made for reducing them.
